Clark International Airport niyanig ng lindol

From CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco:

Immediately after the earthquake, we instructed our security to conduct a complete ocular of all CAAP airports and air navigation facilities.

CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Clark control tower has sustained a broken glass panel. Accordingly, the tower is not being utilized at the moment while awaiting full damage assessment.

No damage was sustained by the runway.

In the meantime, while the tower is not being used pending structural assessment, our Air Traffic Controllers’ in the interim brought a radio and established temporary tower on ground near the runway to allow landing of incoming aircraft.

Nevertheless, based on the assessment of CIAC, it would be more prudent to close Clark Airport operations for 24 hours.

NOTAM closing airport operations is forthcoming.

There were reports that Clark Passenger Terminal Building sustained damages.

NAIA

According to MIAA, no significant damages to the runway and other navigational aids have been sustained. Business as usual in NAIA airports.

CAAP CNS/ATM

After the assessment, it was reported that the CNS ATM facility and its radars are all okay. Radar facility at Merville experienced short power interruption but is now back to normal.

OTHER AIRPORTS AND FACILITIES

Except for the Clark tower, there were no reported damages in other CAAP facilities.

We will follow NDRRMC protocols, and will continue to monitor possible effects of the earthquake.
